Netflix Now Requires a Unique Email Address for Each User Login
Netflix has introduced a new sign-in requirement that gives each eligible user their own unique login credentials.
Under the new system, every independently used profile on a Netflix subscription must be linked to a separate email address, making it easier to manage accounts and improve security.
The update began rolling out on June 15, 2026, and applies mainly to add-on members and secondary users who access Netflix through another person’s subscription.
Users may now see a prompt asking them to add an email address to their profile before they can continue using the service.
With individual email addresses linked to each profile, users can manage their own login information without depending on the primary account holder.
This also makes it easier to sign in on new devices, recover account access, and use security features such as two-factor authentication where available.
Another advantage is greater personalization. Each user can maintain their own language preferences, audio settings, display options, and other account preferences without affecting other profiles on the same subscription.
It’s worth noting that this requirement does not apply to profiles created for children. Kids’ profiles can continue to operate without a separate email address.
The new sign-in system reflects Netflix’s ongoing efforts to improve account management while offering a more secure and personalized experience for users who share subscriptions through official add-on member plans.
Overall, requiring a unique email address for each user login makes Netflix accounts easier to manage, more secure, and better suited for individual users, especially those accessing shared subscriptions.
